Although spring seems like a long way off, the seed catalogs are piling up on the table and we are getting excited to order and start flats of veggies sometime in February.
This next weekend in Pine River is a pretty cool get together, called Back to Basics here which showcases local vendors and exhibitors offering tons of unique things. Louise will be speaking at 2 pm on Small Spaces "Pocket" Gardening for Specific Purposes. We also are vending with other exhibitors and we will have canned goods (jams, jellies, salsas, pickles, and relishes) and assorted garden seeds for this upcoming spring.
New veggies we will be experimenting with this year are: Globe Artichoke...
Malabar Spinach...
Strawberry Spinach... We love trying new things, and a fruit that we are really excited to try and re-introduce to everyone is Aunt Mollys Ground Cherry and Cape Gooseberry. These are tried and tested fruits that have lost their identity over the past several years amongst all the organic and sustainability buzz. You will be surprised with the look and taste of these fruits....
Think spring.
